Lead guitar 3 is about acquiring some new tools for improvisational practise.
• The course revises tools acquired on the previous courses; guide tones; power chords; partial chords
• We examine using arpeggios (triads and 7ths) in improvisation.
• We assess the use of the pentatonic scale in 5 positions.
• We begin to use modes as a means of improvising.
By the end of the course the student should feel confident that they know how to play and improvise on pretty much any type of song/key/style.
Being a practical course the various aspects will be illustrated by examining songs.
